“It’s not just antivax! If I didn’t come before, it was mainly because I was worried, I thought we didn’t have enough perspective and I have enough health problems as it is, “he explains. she. Ilham “postponed” this moment “to the maximum” but she found herself “stuck” with the vaccination pass, which came into force on Monday for people aged 16 and over. She adds: “Anything that is restaurant, I don’t care. But it was starting to get expensive [en tests de dépistage] and then, even to travel, the airlines ask for the vaccine. This is where it became really problematic for my work. »

“Many people catch Covid and end up not coming to get vaccinated”

Laurence Serandour, head of the vaccination center for the city of Nice, indicates that there are “a bit of all profiles” among those who resign themselves to receiving their first injection. “Isolated people, people who no longer have the possibility of presenting a negative test, others who are very stressed”, details the manager. Before adding: “We also have a lot of people who never come because they have caught the coronavirus in the meantime and are getting their recovery certificate for the next six months. A period that will soon be reduced to four months to fight against the spread of the Omicron variant.

Until mid-January, “there were between 60 and 100 first doses per day. Now it depends on the day. Today was a fortnight. Thirty yesterday. For an average total of 800 injections performed per day”. Even without having made an appointment, people who wish to come and take their first dose are taken care of at the Palais des expositions, underlines the manager.

Since the start of the vaccination campaign, the metropolis of Nice has administered 604,997 doses of anti-Covid vaccine, including 99,168 third doses, which corresponds to “about half of the reminders given knowing that city medicine can also vaccinate”, summarizes Laurence Serandour . In its latest weekly report, the Paca regional health agency recalls that “vaccination remains an effective means of combating serious forms of the disease”.
