TikTok recently allowed 13-year-old Caden Cotnoir to rescue another teenager from a particularly dangerous situation. Almost 1,300 kilometers separated the two users of the social network, respectively living in the US states of New Hampshire and West Virginia, indicates Associated Press.
Twelve-year-old boy Trent Jarret was filming himself live on TikTok when an accident happened. The quad he was on overturned, trapping him under its wheels. The young boy then shouted out his grandparents’ phone number, the only one he could remember, hoping to be heard by internet users watching his video.
A virtual meeting
At the same time, Caden Cotnoir understood from watching the live footage that something serious was happening. “All of a sudden, his phone had become more or less empty, I saw a small light and I heard him call for help, shouting,” he testified. He then hastened to contact the number in question to notify his relatives.
After being trapped under the vehicle for about twenty minutes, Trent Jarrett was rescued by his parents. The young driver only suffers from minor wounds and cuts. Her stepfather, the head of a local police department, called the case an “Easter miracle”. The two young boys met virtually via Zoom on Monday. Trent Jarrett was able to thank his savior from a distance.
