The international network of high-end travel agencies Virtuoso withdrew from its catalog all the hotels of the Trump group, during the week of March 8. In the event of non-renewal or termination of collaboration with institutions, the consortium’s policy is “not to make comments out of respect for the parties concerned and as a matter of principle”, indicated Misty Ewing Belles, director of public relations. by Virtuoso, cited by Zenger News.
The network did not specify either the reasons which had pushed it to take this decision, indicating simply to have “taken into account several factors”. No official announcement was made. The measure concerns ten hotel properties and hotels belonging to the company of the former president of the United States. The leaders of the latter did not wish to react to the information.
Not a first
Some hotel establishments of the former head of state have also encountered financial difficulties. This is particularly the case of the Trump International Hotel, which opened in September 2016 in Washington. It was therefore put up for sale and then withdrawn from the market without having found a buyer on several occasions.
Virtuoso, which only accepts clients by co-option, is not the first organization to distance itself from companies linked to Donald Trump. The city of New York, the association of professional golfers (PGA) or several banks had already made this decision in the past.
