The drama took place on Sunday near a hotel in Greece. A 67-year-old Greek man killed a 60-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man with a shotgun on the Greek island of Corfu, police said. The assailant then turned the weapon on him and committed suicide, according to a statement from the authorities.
“We have been warned of gunshots at 11:30 am (08:30 GMT) near a hotel” in the seaside resort of Dassia, a police official in Athens previously said.
A dispute over a threat of eviction
According to the national agency ANA, the man killed the owner of his home and a neighbor, as part of a dispute over a threat of eviction. A witness said he saw the scene, not far from a five-star hotel. “I saw the bodies in a vacant lot near a rental room,” he said.
At first, the ERT television channel had reported that the victims were a French couple living on the island. Police then said that one of the victims was a Greek who had lived in France. No injuries were reported among hotel residents.
