Baking for beginners: three versions of cakes to conquer everyone

With the cold days we’ve been experiencing lately you’ve probably had a sweet tooth. If you have a tight schedule that doesn’t allow you to spend long hours in the kitchen, or maybe you’re a beginner in the art of baking, Advantage presents you with a collection of three recipes that you cannot miss. These are three versions of practical and delicious cakes that you can make at home based on banana, apple or carob.

banana cake

Ingredients:

  • 130g unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 silken bananas
  • 1/4 tsp. grated nutmeg
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • zest 1 lemon
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1 cup unprepared flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk

Preparation:

With an electric mixer, beat 130 grams of butter and the sugar for two minutes. Without stopping beating, add the eggs one by one, integrating after incorporating each one. Separately, mash the bananas with a fork and mix with the nutmeg, lemon juice, zest and walnuts. Add the mixture to the previous preparation and then alternately add a cup of flour, previously sifted with the baking powder, and the milk. Pour into a rectangular mold 26 centimeters long, greased and floured with the remaining butter and flour, and take to the preheated oven at 180°C for 30 minutes. Remove, let cool and unmold. serve

apple cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup sifted prepared flour
  • 50g chopped pecans
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 sliced ​​apples
  • 1 tbsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • margarine

Preparation:

Beat the margarine with the sugar. Then add the eggs, one at a time, until smooth. Add the flour and the floured pecans with encircling movements. At the end add the vanilla. Pour into a buttered mold, place the apple slices on top and sprinkle with cinnamon, sugar and margarine bits. Cover with a paper towel and microwave at medium heat for about 13 minutes. Let stand before uncovering and serving.

carob cake

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 clear
  • 1 tsp. Butter
  • 1/4 cup integral cereal
  • 1/4 cup brazil nuts
  • 1/4 cup dried figs
  • juice of 1 orange
  • 1 1/2 cups light evaporated milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 cup prepared flour
  • 1/3 cup carob
  • 1/4 tbsp. powdered cloves
  • 1 tbsp. cinnamon powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 100g powdered sugar

Preparation:

Beat the unsalted butter with the sugar until creamy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating to incorporate. Add the cinnamon, cloves and carob, stir and gradually add the sifted flour with the baking powder. Pour the milk and orange juice alternately; mix. Stir in chopped figs, walnuts, and crushed cereal. Stir until ingredients are combined. Pour the batter into a 24 by 8 centimeter cake pan greased with butter and bake at 180ºC for 40 minutes. Beat the egg white with the powdered sugar and bathe the cake. Serve.
