Our gastronomy can be as diverse, majestic and delicious as we can imagine, but there will always be a key accompaniment for any type of dish: the beloved rice. Due to its simplicity and versatility, this grain is present in most of our preparations and is a favorite in different parts of the world. Recognizing this, Nicolás Weinberg and his partner decided to venture into a different proposal but based on this culinary relationship that is so important for Peruvians. This is how Arroz Gracias was born, the first restaurant specialized in rice dishes in the country. They recently celebrated two months of inauguration, but the project has been cooking since last year, Weinberg comments. “My partner, who handles the culinary side of rice thank you, and I worked together in a cevichería. I always saw that the dishes that came out the most were rice and seafood chaufa. Between one thing and another, in the midst of a pandemic, we decided to undertake something of our own”he adds.

The idea was to bet on something that all Peruvians eat, that’s why they decided to create this restaurant. “Usually in restaurants the menu is built based on proteins and then accessories, sauces and other things are added, which is where the rice would come in”Weinberg mentions. Tasty dishes and ‘taipá’ portions

As we already mentioned, in the menu there is the option of Arm your rice, where you can choose between the classic white rice, rice with seafood, chaufa, Thai rice -a version of the previous one with coconut milk-, green rice and a jungle version. . To this, add 12 protein options which include beef, chicken, pork and marine options such as fish; 14 plugins such as French fries, fried egg, pickled turnip, among others and a generous list of 16 perfect sauces to accompany the dishes. These are served on generous platters that can easily be shared.

In addition to this option, they have already established combos such as Marine that includes a tasty rice with seafood, fish crackling or squid with the perfect level of crispiness, fried yucca, chifles and canchita serrana. Another combo we tried and loved was the Favourite, which includes chaufa rice, a very juicy salted loin, French fries and a fried egg – is there anything richer than breaking a semi-raw yolk and making it wet the rice? I do not think so-.

One of my favorite rice dishes is green, thanks to that characteristic Creole touch. rice thank you he also offers it in his combo From North, which also includes chicken pork rinds, guacamole and potato chips. Although it is an unusual combination, the mixture of flavors and textures makes it perfect.
