Lovers of Huaral’s star dish will meet again at the IX Festival del Chancho al Palo. The city is getting ready to receive more than 50,000 visitors from October 14 to 16 at the Cultural Gastronomic Boulevard, located at the Retes intersection.
The event will feature more than 60 exhibitors divided into four major areas: gastronomy, market, institutional and cultural, as well as agricultural exhibitors from the province.
Admission will be completely free and the doors of the place will remain open from 9 am to 12 am During the day, in addition to enjoying the typical dish, there will also be shows for all ages.
The Festival, organized by the Huaral Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Allied Industries (AHORA Huaral), is celebrated within the framework of the Day of the Pig to the Stick (every third Sunday of October), a day instituted by the Municipality of Huaral.
“Huaral has become an important gastronomic destination, having a great socioeconomic impact on the town, because it has allowed the creation of more enterprises. Without a doubt, it is a powerful tourist route near Lima”, says Rosa Elena Balcázar, president of NOW Huaral.

In addition to the pork on the stick, diners can also enjoy the classic Garcia Soup, Duck in chili, seafood and desserts with local products.
The solidarity fee
The IX Festival del Pig al Palo comes with a different proposal, on the first day the largest pig on a stick in the country will be made, which will then be donated to 2,500 people with limited resources in the Huaral, Chancay and Aucallama areas.
An event with the seal of the Peru Brand
After two years, the Marca Perú bus returns to Huaral, also becoming the first destination it will visit since the beginning of the reactivation of tourism. The bus arrives accompanied by renowned chefs such as: Javier Vargas, Flavio Solórzano, Andrés Ugaz, among others.
How to get to the Cultural Gastronomic Boulevard?
Huaral is located north of Lima, 90 km away, which makes the approximate travel time 2 hours. It can be reached by car and also by public transportation with the Zbuss company, which has two departure points, Acho in the Rímac district and the Plaza Norte Terminal in San Martín de Porres.
