50 Best Latam: remember the 2021 list with the best restaurants in Latin America

The gastronomic sector was one of the hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic, it is for this reason that the ninth edition of the 50 Best Latam decided to pay tribute to the past and the future, with a retrospective list, which for the first time in history recognized to the best restaurants of the last nine years, the award ceremony took place virtually in November of last year.

The list for this edition was drawn up from the sum of the votes obtained throughout the eight editions, being made up as follows: 11 Argentine restaurants, 11 Mexicans, 9 Peruvians, 7 Brazilians, 4 Colombians, 4 Chileans and Uruguay, Bolivia, Venezuela and Panama had one representative each.

“The Greatest Restaurant in Latin America 2013-2021″ or also known as the first place went to the Central Peruvian restaurant of chefs Virgilio Martínez and Pía León. In second place was the Lima restaurant Maido and in third place DOM from São Paulo. Thus the podium was formed.

Continuing with the list, Astrid y Gastón was in 4th place, while Pujol, from Mexico City, was in 5th place, a position he obtained in the 2020 edition. For William Drew, content director of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants, after a year of challenges, the 2021 edition seeks to honor the “heroes of gastronomy” who continued to work to support their communities and rebuild the sector.
