Holy Plants, the first vegan ‘fastgood’ that mixes fast food with healthy

Pereira comments that he always liked to start a business, but the most important thing is that when he starts a business it must have a reason for being, a reason, a purpose. So, for the young entrepreneur, it was necessary for the restaurant he opened to have the vision of providing nutritious food to diners, which is why the menu was created by a nutritionist specializing in plant-based food. “There are many restaurants that are not responsible with what they are serving. We want to teach diners that what they are eating has value”, indicates.

He explains that his diet is plant-based and when he started he was so curious that he decided to study more about this eating pattern so he took a course on plant-based nutrition at Cornell University. “There I understood a lot more of the concepts and began to delve into the subject of plant-based nutrition. I loved (…); It was there that the theme of Holy Plants arises, having a truly oriented approach to nutritional value and environmental awareness.“, Add.

The founder of the restaurant indicates that they tried to ensure that the menu is not only vegan, but that “proteins are included”. “Let there be a good amount of protein per dish and other important nutrients. We also avoid fried foods”Add.

The Holy Plants menu explains in each of the dishes how much protein it has and which nutrient stands out. For example, we will find that their hamburgers have more than 13g of vegetable protein, while their pastas have more than 25g of protein, even the “cauliflower wings” have a good amount of this macronutrient thanks to the chickpea flour. In addition, we find dishes or entries that are a great source of antioxidants or vitamins.

This restaurant is one of fast food but vegan and healthy. All their dishes are disposable but biodegradable and compostable. For the team it is important that everything has a correct harmony with the environment. That is why they have taken care of each of the containers. In addition, it has its own delivery to make the experience even more pleasant.

The letter:

As snacks you will find Pita Chips, in two versions. One that includes bell pepper hummus and smoked eggplant baba ganoush Arabic sauce (s/13), and another that includes fresh guacamole and creamy cheddar cashew cheese (s/15). There are also two cauliflower wings options (s/21), one with teriyaki sauce and another with BBQ sauce.

For this heat, a good salad (s/25) is inevitable. Holy Plants has two that can come with whatever burger you want: Andean grains, lentils, chickpeas, or the oh-so-delicious Beyond Burger. The one we recommend is the Miraflowers salad, which has a combination of flavors, colors, and textures: avocado, tomato, mango, and cashews. Served with sweet and sour teriyaki sauce.

If you are looking for a hamburger, they also have it in a ‘whole foods’ version, that is, complete foods. It has six varieties of hamburgers (from s/24) and the best thing is that you can choose the bread you want to be served with: sesame seeds or whole wheat with sunflower seeds. For 6.9 soles you can ask to accompany your hamburger with fries or coleslaw. And if you are looking for an experience on another level, you can ask for 13.9 soles to exchange the hamburger for a Beyond Burger. Holy Plants was the first vegan restaurant in Lima to have this vegetable meat.

Other options that you will find on the menu are a burrito that comes with sauces and chips (s/ 31) and pasta. They have three pasta. The mac and cheese, some rice macaroni in creamy cheddar cheese with cashews and golden mushrooms; the bolognese, whole wheat quinoa fettuccini with homemade baked tomato sauce, aromatic herbs, ground soy meat with golden mushrooms; and chestnut pesto, which has wholemeal tricolor fusilli with chestnut pesto, served with a touch of tomato and chili sauce.
