Do you want to stop drinking soda? These are some alternatives to refresh yourself in a healthy way

It is not a novelty that health professionals invite people to reduce their consumption of soft drinks, but for some this recommendation becomes a very difficult task. Soft drinks have flavors that are very attractive and thanks to their gasification, it becomes a very refreshing drink. In this note we tell you what other drinks you can replace them in case you have decided to stop consuming them.

high in sugar

Excessive consumption of sugar is one of the causes of non-communicable chronic diseases, and that is why it is recommended to reduce its consumption. Sugar is camouflaged in various foods and drinks, and at first glance we don’t know how many teaspoons of this ingredient it can have. That is why it is recommended to read food labels to find out how many grams of added sugar a product has per serving.

Sodas are usually high-sugar drinks that do not add any nutrients to a person’s diet. We know what they are delicious and that is why we share a list of drinks that could fill that gap:

kombucha

Kombucha is a drink made from black, green or red tea. This goes through a fermentation process thanks to a colony of bacteria and yeasts called Scoby. During this period, a natural carbonation forms, making it a perfect replacement for sodas.

Although kombucha has a strong and peculiar flavor, we could even say that it is a learned flavor, there are many varieties. Currently on the market, we find a lighter flavor than others, with sweeter thanks to the fruits that are placed in it, so there is something for all tastes.

natural soft drinks

Social media can sometimes be a great tool. On Tik Tok, Instagram and YouTube we will find many recipes for “natural sodas”, which are basically made up of carbonated water, the concentrate of some fruit and a sweetener such as stevia or monk fruit. The great thing about these drinks is that you can enjoy the bubbles and a delicious flavor, without exposing yourself to very high amounts of sugar. Find your favorite and prepare it all for your family.

fruity infusions

There are many varieties of infusions, and they are perfect for both summer and winter. As there are so many different ones and with combinations of fruits and herbs, we can consume a different one every day. You can prepare an infusion of frozen red fruits, with plenty of ice to combat the summer heat, and in winter, you can take it as a hot drink to combat the cold.

You can buy infusions in a filter or prepare them at home with herbs bought in bulk. You can choose the one that works best with your lifestyle. Among the most common infusions we find: anise, chamomile, black tea, red tea, green tea, lemon verbena, mint, lemon verbena, red fruit tea, mint tea, among others. If you want to replace the soda, you can add your favorite sweetener, but over time, you will get used to drinking them without sugar.

Lemonade

Can lemonade replace soda? Of course, especially if you prepare it with sparkling water. Being so easy to prepare and cheap, it becomes a good ally to fight thirst, and of course replace soda.

If you order it at a restaurant, opt for a sweetener like stevia, which will sweeten it but won’t spike your blood sugar. If you have a choice, try to choose one that is stevia only and not a blend of sweeteners. You can also let your creativity run wild and make lemonade with herbs like mint, spearmint or make a more tropical one with coconut milk.

fruity waters

Fruity waters are a great tool to enjoy a flavored drink. They are neither juice nor fruit juice, because they do not go through the blender. Only fruit is placed in the water, and you can crush it slightly to eliminate flavor.

They are based on filtered or boiled water, then you add slices of some citrus fruit such as lemon, orange, lime, red fruits, among others. To make it even more refreshing, you can add herbs like mint or spearmint. Some people also choose to add cucumber slices that give it even more freshness. Let your imagination run wild and prepare them at home.
