Usually when someone tells me they had soup for lunch, I don’t believe it. Let me explain, soups and creams can be weak, but there are a few preparations that, personally, do qualify as a meal, not just as an entree. Two of the favorites of many are the menestrón and the Creole soup and I include myself completely. Therefore, in Advantage we put both soups to the test in this versus culinary and we will tell you all about the experience of enjoying them by delivery.
On one side of the ring we have menestron, the Peruvian version of minestrone, a specialty of Italian cuisine. On the other side is a tasty soup that pays tribute to the Creole cuisine with a great similarity to chupes. For this close battle we were able to taste the seasoning of The Still Life, a restaurant recognized for its commitment to classic flavors in a format of Lima tavern. His menu includes entrees such as papa a la huancaína, ceviche and corn cake; soups like green aguadito; main dishes such as the pumpkin locro, the baked chicken with joints in its tuco and the old-fashioned rice with pork; and desserts such as the iconic combo and the delicious guargüeros.
Delivery and presentation
The soup was delivered correctly, following all the necessary security protocols due to the pandemic. The package was delivered in a properly closed and sealed paper bag. In addition, the container in which it came was made of cardboard and it is one more point if we think about the care of the environment. Of course, it came sealed with plastic tape, to avoid any type of spillage. The temperature was more than correct, it seemed fresh. I must admit that of all the culinary versus, this meal was the one with the highest temperature.

Seasoning and flavor
The menestron is one of my favorite soups precisely because of the mild flavor that the basil gives, or at least that is how they prepare it at home. And this version did not disappoint, it completely reminded me of the menestron that my mother makes, only with a thicker and more pleasant texture. The amount of salt was perfect and the flavor of the base stew did not overshadow the other ingredients. Here we find vegetables such as carrots, squash, celery, green beans, green beans, potatoes, shelled corn and turnips. In addition to taking joint noodles, we found some delicious pieces of breast tip, which are broken with the spoon of how soft they are. Being thickened with potato, it turns out a bit thicker than I expected, which is accentuated over time, so I recommend eating it right away.

Quantity and servings
If we talk about hearty soups, this is the star without a doubt. Not only because of the abundant amount of ingredients it contains, but also because of the portion they offer in the restaurant. If a person dares to take one of these, it is quietly a main dish, otherwise, I recommend sharing it between two or three people as a starter or a treat to keep warm.

Delivery and presentation
Like its opponent, the delivery of this dish was under all necessary care. It was delivered in the same paper bag and it came in the same cardboard container. A plus is that the lids of these containers come with small holes that allow the heat to escape properly. It also came sealed with plastic tape. In this case we have a nice companion: a slice of fried bread that came wrapped in paper. The temperature was very suitable, ready to serve and, on top of that, we had to blow a bit to avoid burning ourselves, so it held the trip perfectly.

Seasoning and flavor
Usually this soup is much less creamy than what they served it, because they thickened it with yellow potatoes. Outside of that, the taste was incredible. In addition to the classic Creole dressing of garlic, onion and ají panca, the pieces of meat and oregano, this version has pieces of high quality huacho sausage, the meat was well seasoned. I was surprised that the angel hair noodle was not overcooked at all and the poached egg came with the yolk still somewhat runny and perfect. The touch of evaporated milk was noticed and appreciated because it allows the flavors to be balanced. The complement was a slice of bread fried with oil, which was perfect because the crispness lasted long enough to enjoy it well.

Quantity and servings
I must admit that this soup is less robust than the menestron, but not by much. Although it does not have as many vegetables, the portion of noodles and meat are perfect. Something that I like about this type of soup is that the meat is already cut into small pieces, so sharing it is easier. As in the previous case, I recommend sharing it between two people to be able to enjoy it as a ticket.
