Christmas is not just a turkey. Marine delicacies can also jump from the ocean to our Christmas tables, and the María Pastor cevichería makes it possible with an original and colorful proposal. This traditional place of Jesus Maria, located on Avenida Cuba, it was born 35 years ago as a successful tiger milk stall within the Mercado San José. For parties, at the request of its faithful guests, the cevichería adopted the red and green colors, typical of the Christmas, to present a tasty and original marine banquet.

Chef Iván Castillo introduces us to the menu and explains that with these fusion dishes they want to surprise all lovers of seafood:
Cause tickets and festive shells
The Christmas cause (learn the recipe here) is made mainly with yellow potatoes, they also recommend Huamantanga potatoes because it is sandy, both fit very well to shape the cause. How do they get the colors? Well, the juice of the boiled beet and the spinach work their magic.
In the same way, the beet adds color to the exquisite Christmas shells, and the green comes from the basil which, together with the Parmesan cheese flambéed with a little pisco, make a super ‘match’ of flavor.
Mango ceviche and seasonal strawberries
This ceviche is prepared in an oriental style with fruits of the season. According to chef Fredy Huamán, who prepares the dishes on the spot, among its ingredients is the catch of the day (in this case grape eye), celery blended with kion, a base of fish cream and garlic. It does not have rocoto because it is an oriental ceviche, for that reason they add honey to it. “This is so that it creates a contrast with the mango and the strawberry, it is a classic bittersweet ceviche,” explains Huamán.
“The strawberries give it the characteristic reddish color of Christmas. It is a special dish prepared only for parties, it is also quite nutritious because it has fruits and fish ”, he complements.
The main dishes
An impressive fried cheetah does not go unnoticed due to its large size and crispy skin. It is bathed in bechamel sauce accompanied with noodles and mushrooms. Another main dish is the shrimp baked in orange sauce with a garnish of classic sweet potato puree. To close, the Christmas menu features baked fish rolled in bacon accompanied by a classic Arabic rice. In about 5 minutes, it comes out of the oven. For this dish they usually work with hake because it is a noble and very tasty fish for this season.
