- Ideel and more recently Origame offer individuals to help them manage their subscriptions.
- Depending on these apps, it is possible to save 500 euros per year by canceling or optimizing certain services.
There is the Internet box, the mobile plan, electricity, but also Netflix, the running app, his favorite magazine … According to the start-up Origame, each French person has on average a dozen subscriptions. . So many risks of drowning in bills but also opportunities to save money, believes the young Nantes growth, which has just launched its mobile application for “administrative phobic”. Objective: to help them manage and optimize their subscriptions … to ultimately earn money.
While gas prices increased further in early March, it is not the only start-up to have embarked on this concept, which goes beyond a simple comparator. The first, Ideel, has already attracted 130,000 users since its launch in 2018. “People who paid too much, out of laziness or fear of the procedures”, estimates one of the founders, Edouard Alexandre, who highlights “the re-commitments automatic “,” registered letters to send who knows where “but also” phantom subscriptions “, these small sums sometimes taken without even noticing.
Cancel and optimize
To save money, the first step is to list your expenses in the app dashboard. “And there are often surprises there,” observes Hugo Salard, 30, at the head of Origame. A package that has increased, the gym that we thought we had terminated … “Then, just let yourself be guided: first, the app takes care of the termination of the services you do not want for you. more. But also, it suggests more interesting formulas for those you keep.
“For the telephone, some pay 30 euros and others 15 for an equivalent offer, it is still necessary to know it, continues Hugo Salard, who recommends changing the plan once a year to always pay the best price. It’s also very easy to save on your energy bill, especially if you leave EDF for another supplier. ”
Canceling a telecom subscription, we’re not going to lie to each other, it’s ALWAYS complicated 😓
When there are fees, it’s no fun. Good news: every problem has a solution 🤗

Its competitor Ideel goes further by offering to compare all types of insurance contracts, however much more complex. “We offer real support by phone to check everything, reassures Edouard Alexandre. The goal is not to pay less and ultimately be less well insured, especially when it comes to financially vulnerable people. ”
Paid to each customer won
Free, the service would allow a consumer to save some 500 euros on average per year. To remunerate themselves, these start-ups receive commissions from partner companies for each new customer won, but they swear never to favor one offer over another. They also ensure that no personal data is resold.
With the ambition to reach 250,000 users by the end of 2021, Ideel is working on the possibility of directly connecting the app to his bank account, to automatically scan expenses. Same project for Origame, which is also preparing a “premium” mode to try to take off from 1,500 users currently to 65,000 within a year. Both are planning fundraising for this year.
