The demonstrators demanded his indictment. Policewoman Kim Potter, who killed 20-year-old African-American Daunte Wright on Sunday night in Brooklyn Center, a suburb of Minneapolis, was arrested on Wednesday. She will be prosecuted for manslaughter, the prosecutor in charge of the case, Pete Orput, told several American media.
The young man’s death occurred during an ordinary traffic control. The police then qualified his death as “accidental”, Kim Potter having confused his service weapon and his Taser, said the local police chief, Tim Gannon. The latter, as well as Kim Potter, resigned earlier this week.
This judicial decision comes after several nights of clashes in the region, which is also currently hosting the trial of Derek Chauvin. The ex-policeman is charged with the murder of George Floyd last year.
