Residents of La Manche will have to vote for a deputy from Calvados

14-50… 50-14… The inhabitants of the former commune of Pont-Farcy, before in Calvados, now integrated (since 2008) into the new commune of Tessy-Bocage, in Manche, are dizzy.

On June 12 and 19, 2022, 1,400 voters from Tessy-Bocage will vote to elect the deputy for the first constituency of Manche while 360 other voters – those of Pont-Farcy – will have to choose a deputy in the sixth constituency of Calvados.

Changing the contours of this constituency turned out to be another pair of… sleeves

“We explained to the inhabitants of Pont-Farcy that they were now inhabitants of the Channel. We know that we made it difficult for them and there, we send them back to Calvados to elect a deputy. ” In West France, the mayor of Tessy-Bocage, Michel Richard, prefers to say that for five years, some of his constituents “will be able to address two deputies to support the town. »

The problem is “simple” : the boundaries of the constituency have not been changed. And it is now too late to rectify the situation. “We do not touch the legislative divisions less than a year before the elections”, explains, on France 3 Normandy, Laurent Simplicien, Secretary General of the Prefecture of La Manche.

A grotesque story that involves a minister, because it is in this 6th district of Calvados, that the Minister of Labour, Employment and Integration, Élisabeth Borne, presented herself. A first local campaign and first campaign altogether (in her own name) for the former prefect of Vienne.
