An axis of alternative
Currently vice-president of the Union of Democrats and Independents (UDI), Louis Giscard d’Estaing was a deputy and vice-president of the National Assembly. He also chairs the Valéry Giscard d’Estaing foundation. The latter aims to maintain the memory of the political work of the former head of state, who died on December 2, 2020.
In the 2022 legislative elections, the UDI is presenting 59 candidates alongside the Les Républicains (LR) candidates. At the forefront of their priorities, the increase in purchasing power and the fight against medical deserts. “An axis of alternative, but not of opposition. We need a credible alternative in our country” to Emmanuel Macron, specifies Louis Giscard d’Estaing. “Currently Emmanuel Macron does not deal with political parties, he deals with individuals. However, a parliamentary democracy is based on coalitions, which are negotiated on a programmatic basis”.
