Hélène Geoffroy denounces a “LFI-see direction” before the congress

The PS continues to tear itself apart over its place within the left alliance. Candidate for the succession of Oliver Faure at the next congress, scheduled for January, the mayor of Vaux-en-Velin Hélène Geoffroy did not mince words this Sunday on Radio J. According to the former Secretary of State of François Hollande, the left-wing alliance concluded in May was “a subjugation, a denial, and here we are trapped by motions of censure wanted by Jean-Luc Mélenchon”.

The group of PS deputies, however, did not vote for the fourth motion of censure presented Friday by LFI, while a majority of socialists had done so in previous motions. “It is urgent to suspend this form of participation in the Nupes to take the time to reflect among socialists on the strategy of union that we want”, insists Hélène Geoffroy.

“We did not advance the left”

The candidate for the post of first secretary also tackled Olivier Faure. “We are with LFI-see management. We are struggling to express our voice in our dedicated bodies, we were recently refused to present a motion to the votes, which has always been a tradition, and we have 70 comrades suspended without any other form of trial “for their dissent in the legislative. Hélène Geoffroy thus deplored the “transformation of a democratic party in movement around a small clan” which “reorients alone” the strategy of the PS.

His assessment of the Nupes? “After six months I fear that we have not won, advancing the left in the country”. Hélène Geoffroy is seeking the post of first secretary because there is “an urgent need for the PS to rediscover its fundamentals: work, democracy and a return to the French”. Asked about the third way that is emerging, with a view to the congress, in forums signed by relatives of former presidential candidate Anne Hidalgo and the president of the Occitanie region Carole Delga, she said “to be delighted that those who had supported Olivier Faure at the last congress recognize the impasse”.
