The deputy soon to return to the National Assembly

The deputy of La France insoumise could return shortly. Adrien Quatennens withdrew from the coordination of LFI in mid-September after acknowledging violence against his wife, who has since filed a complaint, and he has not sat in Parliament since. However, according to party executives quoted by France Info, he is preparing his return “by the end of the month”.

For almost two months, Adrien Quatennens has been absent from the political debate. The elected official took sick leave while taking part by “voting delegation” in a series of public ballots for the National Assembly, to oppose the budgetary texts or the reform of unemployment insurance. Some members of the left party have raised the possibility that the deputy from the North will be excluded, while the investigation takes place.

“Repetition of political slaps”

According to our colleagues, this will not be the case and the terms of the return of the chosen one are being discussed at this very moment. In mid-October, the leader of La France Insoumise already believed that Adrien Quatennens “had to return” to the National Assembly. Calling for a “gradation of the sentences imposed on him”, Jean-Luc Mélenchon wished “that the lynching which was made of him cease”, deploring a “repetition of political slaps which are given to him from morning to evening in all the media”.

A choice of words which provoked the indignation of many elected officials, in particular the Secretary of State in charge of Associative Life, Marlène Schiappa, who said she was “deeply shocked”. By acknowledging having slapped his wife, Adrien Quatennens embarrassed the party. If the date of the official return of the elected official from the North is not known, it will undoubtedly cause a stir in the National Assembly.
