Emmanuel Macron expected soon in Marseille

The rumor had been running for months. Asked about BFMTV, government spokesman Gabriel Attal confirmed an upcoming visit of President Emmanuel Macron to Marseille.

“Yes, a trip is planned to Marseille. If he travels to Marseille, the President of the Republic, it is not for nothing, it is even to talk about a lot of subjects because Marseilles, obviously, needs that we work on many subjects ”, a Gabriel Attal replied to a question from Jean-Jacques Bourdin.

The announcement of this move comes as the city has experienced an acceleration in the number of settlements for two months, with gunshot homicides in cities and neighborhoods affected by drug trafficking.

This weekend, four days after the death of a 14-year-old near a drug outlet, three men were killed. “There are 100 police forces who have arrived more since the beginning of the year in Marseille, and 200 which are planned for the coming years, we are putting the means to pound the traffickers,” Gabriel Attal said on Tuesday.

In connection with the State, the municipality is also planning a renovation plan for 200 of the city’s 472 schools, according to Mayor Benoît Payan (PS) who had met Prime Minister Jean Castex on this subject in June.
