Guilty of throwing flour but exempted from punishment. A 27-year-old sovereignist YouTuber, Tilou M., was found guilty on Tuesday by the Paris Criminal Court of having thrown flour in the face of Jean-Luc Mélenchon. The young man was “exempted from punishment” while the prosecutor during the trial in early July had demanded 140 hours of community service (TIG) against him.
Neither the leader of La France insoumise Jean-Luc, nor the accused or their lawyers were present at the hearing. Jean-Luc Mélenchon had not lodged a complaint and had not become a civil party.
The incident took place on the sidelines of a demonstration against the far right in Paris last June. As he responded to the press, the boss of LFI MPs and declared candidate for the 2022 presidential election had received flour on his face.
The scene was filmed by an accomplice of Tilou M. and broadcast on social networks. Tilou M.’s accomplice, Sami H., was also found guilty and dispensed of sentence.
