Anne Hidalgo deprived of a driving license after speeding? This is an old april fool

An April Fool’s Day that never goes out. It targets Anne Hidalgo, who would have had her driving license withdrawn after speeding on the ring road. The joke is circulating on social networks in the form of a press article.

The mayor of Paris would have been checked “Porte de Saint-Mandé” and would have told the bikers “not to look at your meter because there is no danger at this time”. The brief concludes by specifying that the technical control of his car “had not been up to date for two years”.

After circulating a few years ago, this hoax is experiencing a resurgence in popularity, when Anne Hidalgo announced on September 12 her candidacy for the presidential election of 2022.

FAKE OFF

The hoax has been circulating since 2015 on social networks, either by being attributed to Paris Dailyor in the form of an article that mimics the layout of the newspaper The Parisian. Neither of these two publications is however at the origin of this hoax: the joke was invented by the Facebook page Info radar IDF (Ile de France), as found by our colleagues from Release.

The entourage of Anne Hidalgo has also assured AFP that the mayor of Paris “still has her license, has never lost it and has never been arrested for speeding”.

In 2018, Anne Hidalgo had herself denounced this “April Fool’s Day”. This resurfaced again while the presidential candidate declared herself in favor, on September 21, to a reduction in traffic on the motorway.
