Russia’s attacks on Ukraine have generated massive rejection around the world and the footballers did not hide their position against this fact. Pole Robert Lewandowski was one of the first to express his regret at the actions of the Russians and does not want to have ties with that country, which is why he ended his business contract with Huawei, a company accused of supporting them, reported AFP.

In the last few hours, Tomasz Zawislak, the representative of the Bayern Munich player, issued a statement announcing that the relationship with the Chinese technology brand had ended, although they did not provide further details on the reasons.

We have taken the decision today to end the marketing cooperation between Robert Lewandowski and the Huawei brand. Thus, the realization of all promotional acts has been suspended by us”, was the brief statement shared by the leader for AFP.

Immediately, the Chinese company confirmed the breaking of the commercial contract with the outstanding scorer: “Huawei CBG Poland regrets the end of its collaboration with Robert Lewandowski. We appreciate your multi-year cooperation and wish you much success in the future.”.

The finalization of the agreement was consummated a few days after the Daily Mail’s accusation against the Chinese giant, which was accused of improving Russia’s internet security against computer attacks in favor of Ukraine, which have been taking place since the outbreak of the conflict.

From the Polish subsidiary of Huawei they described the information as fake news, since the data is not true. It is worth mentioning that the news was initially spread by a Chinese web portal and disappeared after a few hours, but it sparked doubts regarding the links of the telephone company with the Russian forces.

Lewandowski had refused to play for Russia

Before the FIFA sanction against Russia, disqualifying it from competing in the playoffs for the Qatar 2022 World Cup and other football competitions, Robert Lewandowski had supported the request not to play against the country’s team: “It is the right decision! I can’t imagine playing a game with Russia in a situation where they maintain armed aggression in Ukraine. Russian footballers and fans are not responsible for this, but we cannot pretend that nothing is happening.”
