Carlos A. Mannucci announced that Enrique Meza ceased to be the club’s coach

The 2022 season in Liga 1 did not start in the best way for Carlos A. Mannucci, who only knows about defeats and is last in the standings. This bad sports present caused the board to make decisions to modify the direction of the team and there will be a change of command: coach Enrique Meza will leave his position.

The announcement was made by the ‘Carlista’ club with a statement published through social networks, after the defeat against the Cantolao Academy (3-2), on the fifth day of the Opening Tournament:

“Hereby, the Carlos A. Mannucci Club informs the sports community that, this afternoon and by mutual agreement, the functions of the technical command headed by Professor Enrique Meza have concluded.

We appreciate the dedication and commitment that they always showed with our institution, and we wish them the greatest success in their future projects. Soon we will be announcing the technical command that will assume command of our squad in League 1″.

It is worth mentioning that Enrique Meza suffered defeats against Melgar (1-0), Alianza Lima (3-1), Sport Huancayo (0-1) and Cantolao (3-2). Only the clash against the ‘Rojo matador’ was in Trujillo, but the squad did not show sufficient strength to impose conditions and doubts regarding the work of the DT increased.

Mannucci’s leadership will work quickly to find the right strategist who can reverse the circumstances and prevent the club from getting relegated. For now, Professor Oscar Gambetta will take command of the institution on an interim basis, ahead of the clash at home against Carlos Stein (March 12).
