“It is useless”: Martin Liberman criticizes FPF complaint against referee Daronco

The Peruvian Football Federation denounced the Brazilian Anderson Daronco, referee of Peru vs Uruguay, who ended in controversy for an alleged goal not validated against the Peruvian team. Many applauded the decision, but this is not the case for Martin Libermanwho was critical of the reaction from Videna.

The complaint “it is useless”, wrote the Argentine journalist through his Twitter account, faithful to his style without filters. “It is for the grandstand and to look good with the people. Judgment matter”, added the commenter next to a post about the FPF announcement.

The controversy that sparked the FPF protest came in the closing minutes of Peru’s 1-0 loss to Uruguay on Friday.

The Uruguayan goalkeeper Sergio Rochet managed to contain the ball after a long delivery by Miguel Trauco, but he fell back a meter behind the goal line and sparked the debate because, according to the Peruvian side, the ball in his hands would have crossed the limit of the line of goal and entered all to the bow.

Conmebol revealed the VAR audio and video of the action, where it determined that there was no goal. However, this did not satisfy the high command of the Federation.

With 21 points and fifth in the table, the Peruvian team depends on itself and must beat Paraguay on Tuesday to win the rematch against an Asian team in June.

In the event of a tie in Lima, the bicolor team will have to wait until Colombia (20) does not beat Venezuela at home and Chile (19) does not do the same against Uruguay in Santiago.
