The emotion of Alphonso Davies after Canada’s qualification for the Qatar 2022 World Cup

Although he was not on the field of play, he was overwhelmed with emotion with his nation’s qualification. Alphonso Davies intensely celebrated Canada’s move to the Qatar World Cup 2022. The Canadians gained their access after defeating Jamaica with a resounding 4-0 thrashing.

The emotion of Davies, who burst into tears, was more than expected, since it has been 36 years since Canada was present at a World Cup. The 21-year-old Canadian has not played since December, having been diagnosed with mild inflammation of the heart muscle. However, he was able to start training parts with Bayern Munich last week, and hopes his progress will continue.

My recovery has been going well so far. I have no problem with muscles and heart. But I’m not 100%, not yet. I am happy to be able to train again and I am ready to work”, he pointed out in an interview on the Bavarian club’s website.

Despite not playing in the Canada vs. Jamaica, Davies will be present at the 2022 Qatar World Cup. The Bayern Munich player is a fundamental pillar for the team. It should be noted that Alphonso has not been in five games with the Canadian team due to myocarditis that he had after contracting COVID-19 in January.

After 13 dates, Canada leads the CONCACAF final octagonal with 28 points. The United States and Mexico follow him, both with 22. Later, the United States receives Panama and Mexico visits Honduras.

The top three in CONCACAF qualify directly for the World Cup in Qatar. The fourth will play an intercontinental playoff against a rival from Oceania. Canada will complete the tie on Wednesday with a visit to Panama.
