Fernando Santos argued that Portugal is the favorite of the group for the Qatar 2022 World Cup

The teams are defined and Cristiano Ronaldo’s nation has already met its rivals. Fernando Santos affirmed that his team, framed in Group H of the 2022 World Cup along with Uruguay, Ghana and South Korea, “He is favorite according to the FIFA ranking.”

“There are no easy or difficult groups. Of these three teams from three different continents, Portugal knows South Korea and Ghana less technically. Instead, we played against Uruguay in the last World Cup.”Saints pointed out.

The Charrúa team was responsible for Portugal going to Russia 2018. Uruguay defeated the team led by Cristiano Ronaldo 2-1 in the round of 16.

“We can look at the glass half full or half empty. Regarding the last World Cup, Uruguay would be a favorite. But if we look at the FIFA ranking, Portugal is the favourite. And we must not forget Ghana and South Korea, who have come a long way”, maintained the Portuguese DT.

Santos pointed out that he knows South Korea well because of the “strong tour” that the Portuguese Paulo Bento has done as coach of that team, but now it’s time to “pay close attention” and study his rivals.

Portugal managed to position itself in the World Cup after playing against North Macedonia by pass and defeating it 2-0 – a brace from Bruno Fernandes. Now, the Portuguese will debut in Qatar on November 24 against Ghana and will then play against Uruguay, to close the group stage against South Korea.
