Alberto Rodríguez confessed the advice that Mourinho gave him: “You have to kick more”

One of the Peruvian players with an outstanding time in Europe has been Alberto Rodríguez, the defender who began his career at Sporting Cristal. Throughout his journey in the old continent, the central defender crossed paths with different figures from world football, both athletes and coaches.

In that sense, the ‘Mudo’ revealed that he was able to meet José Mourinho, the renowned Portuguese coach. During a recent interview for Gol Peru, the prominent soccer player gave details of the talk he had with the strategist, confessing the curious advice he received at the time.

The manager of Sporting Lisbon is a very good friend of Mourinho and he introduced him to me in England, when he was managing Chelsea. I was in my room and they called me to introduce themselves to a person and I had no idea who it was”, reported Alberto Rodríguez.

They introduced me to José and we spoke in Spanish, because he was working at FC Barcelona. There he told me: ‘You are a great player, but you have to kick more’”, said the defender, gracefully remembering that recommendation.

On the other hand, Alberto Rodríguez also gave details of his meeting with ‘CR7’ in a restaurant. “Jorge Mendes was our representative and we arrived at the agreed place to eat. There was Cristiano Ronaldo, who recognized me, greeted me and we started talking”, recalled the central.

We then moved on to dinner elsewhere. His relatives, his mother and very close friends were there. It was all very private, there were about 30 people. The truth is that we had a great time”, concluded the ‘Mudo’.
