It’s official. FC Barcelona announced this Thursday the agreement with Aston Villa for the transfer of Philippe Coutinho to the English club for 20 million euros in an operation in which the Blaugrana entity reserves 50% of the capital gain from a future sale of the player.
In a press release, the Catalan team expressed their gratitude to the Brazilian midfielder “for their commitment and dedicationand wished him “Good luck and success in the future.”
Coutinho was presented on January 8, 2018. He made his debut with the Barça shirt on January 25 of the same year in the second leg of the Copa del Rey quarterfinal against Espanyol. From that day on, the Brazilian accumulated participations, goals and assists, Barça recalls in its press release.
“In his last season at the Club, the fourth, the former 14 and 7 Barcelona player became a Barça centenarian in Vallecas. An event that he wrote this 2021/22, before leaving on loan to Aston Villa last January. In total, as a culer, he has added 106 games and has scored 26 goals. Throughout his 106 games with the Barça shirt, Coutinho has obtained 65 victories, 24 draws and 15 defeats”, concludes the text.
On a sporting level, his departure is a relief for Xavi, who does not have him in his plans for his project and nobody thinks that he can perform again as he did in his best years. In addition, economically, Barça dispenses with one of the highest chips that remain, since Coutinho earns about 13.5 million euros per year.
The Brazilian landed at the Camp Nou in January 2018 after tough negotiations with Liverpool. The board would have liked to have him from the summer of 2017, after Neymar left, but then there was no agreement with the English.
