Carlos Zambrano: “By having continuity, I feel much more confident”

Boca Juniors and Corinthians tied 1-1, in a match for the fifth date of Group E of the Copa Libertadores 2022 played this Tuesday at the La Bombonera stadium. Carlos Zambrano was fundamental for the ‘Xeneizes’, since he assisted Darío Benedetto for the equalizing goal.

After finishing the game, the Peruvian defender gave statements in which he considered that the Brazilian team came to Buenos Aires looking for a tie: “It was a tough match, they came looking for a point.”

Carlos Zambrano has been important for Boca Juniors and has played several games in the Argentine league and Copa Libertadores, for which he assured that “Having continuity, I feel much more confident. Being where I have to be, I want to contribute in the best way”.

Boca’s tie was achieved after a joint play shortly after the end of the first half. After a clearance that fell short inside the Brazilian area, Zambrano won high with a header and left the ball to Benedetto, who settled in and defined with a half turn to the right corner, away from the goalkeeper’s hands.

It should be noted that Corinthians scored a goal from a corner kick in which there was a short clearance, Raul Gustavo dropped the ball inside the area, and the ball was served at the feet of Du Queiroz, who scored with a low cross shot to the left corner.

With this equality, Corinthians continues to lead Group E with 8 points, followed by Boca (7), while Colombian Deportivo Cali is third (5) and Bolivian Always Ready is fourth (4), who will meet on the night of Thursday.

On the sixth and last date, to be played on Thursday the 26th, Boca will host Deportivo Cali, and Corinthians will be local in Sao Paulo against Always Ready.
