Marcelo, the captain: this is how Real Madrid celebrated with the Champions League trophy | VIDEO

Real Madrid continues to make history in the Champions League and this Saturday they won the trophy again, after beating Liverpool in the final. Vinicius’s goal was enough to decree the victory and, after referee Clément Turpin’s whistle, the celebrations began, which included the outstanding scene of Marcelo raising the ‘Orejona’.

Karim Benzema had been in charge of wearing the ‘Merengues’ ribbon during the match and everything pointed to the fact that he would be the standard bearer to lift cup number 14. However, the Frenchman decided to give the opportunity to the Brazilian winger, a historical figure for the institution, who marks his farewell in this presentation.

It was like this Marcelo put the headband on his arm, despite not having minutes in the final, and prepared to take over the ‘Orejona’ for a few moments, while he went to the armed podium on the lawn of the Stade de France. However, the Liverpool squad was awarded first, with the usual silver medals.

Then it was the turn of Real Madrid and each of the members of the club hung the gold medal around their necks. The protocol ceremony lasted a few minutes and the most important hour arrived: the delivery of the Champions League trophy. The fans of the ‘White House’ present in the stands highlighted the scene with chants.

Marcelo received the heavy cup, made a few gestures to make his companions laugh and immediately went to the designated area for the coronation. The Brazilian side kissed the ‘Orejona’ and lifted it into the air, while the rest of the ‘Merengues’ sang, jumped and applauded for the memorable moment.
