Raphaël Varane withdraws, first summons to the France team for Ibrahima Konaté

Hit in the left thigh during France-Denmark on Friday, Raphaël Varane has withdrawn for the next three games for the France team. He is replaced by novice Ibrahima Konaté, the French Federation announced on Saturday.

Exams taken by the Manchester United defender “confirmed his unavailability for the last three games of the season,” said the FFF. This new injury should leave him on the floor between ten and fifteen days, we learned from a source close to the France group.

Konaté, a Champions League finalist with Liverpool, will be “present on Sunday in Split (Croatia) for the eve of match training”, before facing the Croats on Monday evening (8:45 p.m.). “I obviously am, he is in a team that is playing for the title in the Premier League and in the Champions League, he has an interesting profile”, Didier Deschamps underlined about the defender, when announcing his list, where he had preferred William Saliba to him.

He also came out injured on Friday, but in the knee, Kylian Mbappé remains for his part in the group, even if he will not play the next meeting. After the trip to Croatia, the world champions will face Austria in Vienna on June 10, then again Croatia, in Saint-Denis, on June 13.
