Australia lived a party this Monday at the Al Rayyan Stadium in Qatar, where they beat the peruvian national team on penalties and got one of the last two tickets for the next world. The victory filled the ‘Socceros’ with excitement, who took their celebrations to the locker room after starting them on the field.

After winning 5-4 in a tense penalty shootout, the members of the oceanic team joined in a single celebration on the playing field, while their similar bicolor stars starred in images of pain and suffering.

Then the Australian celebration reached another level in the dressing rooms, with the song ‘Sweet Caroline’ playing in the background. Everything was recorded in images circulating on social networks.

Australia qualified for Qatar 2022 by winning the intercontinental playoff match between Conmebol and the Asian Confederation, played at the venue of the next World Cup.

On penalties, Australia was more effective in securing their sixth-place finish by scoring five of the six charges they made. “The feelings in these moments of pain and frustration overwhelm us all. it’s a big disappointment”, said the coach of the Peruvian national team, Ricardo Gareca, after the game.

With the victory, the ‘Socceroos’ will join Group D, which includes France, defending champions; Denmark and Tunisia. Australia manager Graham Arnold described the win as “one of the main feats of Australian rules football”. “We’re proud we did it”, he added enthusiastically.

With the elimination of Peru, South America will only have four selected in the World Cup: Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador and Uruguay.
