Renato Tapia after losing to Australia for the World Cup playoff: “That day something in me died”

Two days have passed since the Peruvian National Team lost the World Cup playoff against Australia and, little by little, the Peruvian soccer players have been speaking with words of gratitude to the fans. On this occasion, Renato Tapia decided to post an emotional message on his official Instagram account.

“There are no words to describe what I feel every day, every time I think again that we will not be in the World Cup, it makes me want to cry and not think about anything. That day something in me died, I’m still looking for what. I know we could have given more, I think we all know that, but it just wasn’t our day. I lost a lot of things this year for the national team but I don’t regret a single one and I would do it again for this group and for my country.”reads the start of the midfielder’s post.

Tapia assured that it will be difficult to recover after this defeat, but not impossible. In the same way, he thanked all the people who supported him in this difficult moment and took the opportunity to address the fans who traveled to Qatar to cheer on the national team.

“It will be very difficult to overcome this situation, but I have to do it for my own good and for those around me, who have given me so much support during all this time. Thank all the people who went to Qatar, since I was a child I swore that I was going to represent my country abroad and instill other people to feel proud of being Peruvians, TODAY I can say that I was able to help make that happen. Being Peruvian is priceless, being Peruvian is being different, being Peruvian is that despite all the circumstances we are always together, united. I swear we’ll be back, I know we’ll be back…”, he added.

The present of the Peruvian National Team

According to FIFA, the ‘Sele’ is located in the twenty-second (22nd) position of the national team ranking. It should be noted that, according to information from MisterChip, a statistician and data expert, the Blanquirroja will occupy box number 21 with 1,562 points in the June update, thus becoming the fifth South American on the list.

Now, after losing in the playoff against Australia, the national team will have to turn the page and focus on what will be the 2026 South American Qualifiers. At the moment, the continuity of the “Tiger” is still uncertain, but there are no doubts that in the campus are very pleased with their work and hope to continue reaping success with the Argentine coach.
