Kolarov decided to step aside and announced his retirement as a professional footballer

He says goodbye, but his future is already clear. Aleksandar Kolarov made his retirement from professional football official. The Serbian footballer made the announcement this Sunday and also maintained that he is already thinking about his “second life” in football.

Until now, the left-back of Inter Milan is retiring at the age of 36 and sixteen seasons as a professional footballer in which he has played for top-level teams such as Lazio, Roma or Manchester City.

“Today I announce my farewell from soccer practice. I always knew that this day would come sooner or later and, despite this, I am grateful for having achieved what has always been my dream “declared the Serbian international in a letter to the Italian agency ANSA.

Although he will leave football as a footballer, Kolarov is already thinking about his future as a sports director: “I am already projected towards my ‘second life’ in the world of football. As soon as the announcements are published I will enroll in the preparation courses, first as a scout and immediately after as sports director”.

“I reach the end of this stage of my life feeling great satisfaction for what I have achieved. I hope I have shown every day that I have deserved it on and off the pitch”sentenced the Serbian.

Kolarov stood out in his career for being one of the most powerful left-handers in the world of football and says goodbye to the field of play with a record of two Coppa Italia, two Italian Super Cups, one ‘Scudetto’, two Premier, two Cups of the English League, a Community Shield and an FA Cup.
