The 32 classified for the World Cup Qatar 2022 and the fans of the participating teams now have a great unknown: who will be summoned from their countries. Below, find out when the summons from each nation will be known for the appointment.
Names will start appearing when preliminary rosters with up to 35 members are released. The final rosters of 26 players for the next World Cup will then be revealed.
The deadline to announce the calls is November 11, ten days before the start of Qatar 2022. The lists will have between 23 and 26 players, at the discretion of each team.
A few days ago, at the last annual meeting of the International Football Association Board (IFAB), it was decided to increase the number of substitutes and now each coach can have up to 15 players on the bench, not just 12. Thus the lists for the World Cup may now include up to 26 summoned. “The size of the final lists for the 2022 World Cup goes from 23 to a maximum of 26 footballers”, FIFA wrote this Thursday in a statement.
FIFA explained its decision by “the need to retain additional flexibility due to the exceptional timing of the 2022 FIFA World Cup on the international calendar, as well as the effects of the pandemic on teams before and during competitions”.
In addition, according to the regulations, each selection “may replace the players included in the final list before 24 hours prior to the start of the first match”, regardless of whether they integrated the previous payrolls.
