Botafogo confirmed interest in signing James Rodríguez: “We have been talking to him”

James Rodríguez finished another season without shining, playing for Al Rayyan. Although he is not going through his best moments, he is still attractive for clubs in this part of the continent, such as Botafogo, which has shown interest in having him. This was revealed by the owner of the team, the American businessman John Textor.

“We have been talking to him. Offers at this stage are often conversations about where a player fits in. It is not as clear as making a proposal. It’s a conversation that really happens first.” Textor told the Lance portal, in an article published this Thursday.

The businessman confirmed that “is a reality” that they want to acquire the services of the former Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Everton player, and that his hiring would be a “sleep” for the Rio de Janeiro club, which this year returned to the First Division of the Brazilian Championship.

“My children grew up watching the Colombian national team and he was one of their favorite players. It is rare to have the possibility of being able to hire such a talent in South America, because I think he still has many good years left in Europe ”he explained.

However, Textor said in his favor that Brazilian football “is going through a moment of transformation” with negotiations between the clubs to create a new professional League, which could be an additional attraction for Rodríguez.

“It could be a long attempt, it would be a player that would change everything for us, so we are going to try it”guaranteed the North American tycoon.

The 30-year-old Colombian player currently plays for Qatar’s Al Rayyan, a club that intends to obtain around 5.5 million dollars for his hypothetical transfer, according to Lance.
