Last Sunday the streets of Callao were filled with a thousand enthusiastic competitors who were part of the “Callao 5K Race” that covered the districts of La Perla and Bellavista in the framework of promoting the health of the Chalacos. In addition, this sports activity coincided with the commemoration of the International Day for the Fight against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
This event was organized by the Regional Government of Callao as part of its plan for “Massification of physical activity and sports for the comprehensive development of the Callao region.” It has been developing successfully, benefiting more than 5,500 people through virtual workshops, face-to-face programs and activities on weekends.
To the surprise and joy of many well-known Chalacos national sports figures were part of this activity. Among them were former soccer players Miguel ‘Conejo’ Rebosio, Mario ‘Machito’ Gómez and Omar ‘Caramelo’ Zegarra. As well as former boxer Raúl ‘Torito’ Enciso, who did not hesitate to participate in this event.

the regional governor Dante Mandriotti Castro, congratulated the new winners and thanked all the participants in the race for their participation. Likewise, he did not hesitate to ensure that sport is a priority in his management. “Always remember that sport creates in us discipline, fair play, improves our health, gives our children and young people opportunities not to go down the wrong path of vices.”
