President of Sporting Cristal ruled out the possibility of signing Paolo Guerrero

Sporting Cristal’s debt in recent seasons was on the attack, since the board did not find the right replacement for Emanuel Herrera. During this 2022, the Colombian John Jairo Mosquera left the club without pain or glory, a situation that caused the new search for a ‘9’ in the market, which has not yet ended.

Precisely, Joel Raffo, president of the ‘Celestes’ referred to the issue, while ruling out the arrival of a national benchmark. In an interview for RPP, the manager was asked if there was an option to sign Paolo Guerrero and he was clear, assuring that “they did not put the name on the table for different reasons”.

In this way, everything indicates that the Rímac institution will continue in its objective of bringing an attacker from abroad. Let us remember that the transfer book in League 1 will close on July 10 and sports entities must speed up the process to close agreements.

Gabriel Torres is still one of the options to get to Sporting Cristal. But in the last hours more offers have arrived and we are evaluating”, concluded Joel Raffo regarding the issue of the scorer that coach Roberto Mosquera needs so much.

How is Sporting Cristal doing in League 1?

Sporting Cristal accumulated its third consecutive victory in the Apertura Tournament, after beating Alianza Atlético 1-0. At this time, the “Celestes” are in third place in the standings, with no chance of reaching the lead: they are five units behind the leader Melgar, in the absence of a date.

Interestingly, despite suffering from the lack of a ‘9’, the Rimenses have scored 32 goals and are on the list of the highest scorers in the championship, matching the records of Sport Huancayo and Cienciano. The club’s top scorers this season are Christofer Gonzales and Irven Ávila, with seven and six goals respectively.
