Romelu Lukaku confirmed his return to Inter Milan: “I’m back, guys!”

Romelu Lukaku’s career has had its ups and downs, as in the last season, in the ranks of Chelsea. The scorer had his third stage with the ‘Blues’, but he was unable to shine (15 goals in 44 games), unlike what he did at Inter Milan in the two previous campaigns, and for this reason he decided to leave London, to return to Italy.

Since the end of the 2021-22 season in the Premier League, speculation began about the departure of the Belgian striker, who on some occasions publicly revealed that he did not feel comfortable with the strategy used by Thomas Tuchel, coach of the London team.

And finally, this Wednesday the return of Romelu Lukaku to Inter was confirmed, with the announcement of the footballer himself. The lanky striker had a meeting with Steven Zhang, president of the ‘Nerazzurri’, and was featured in a video, on the terrace of the Italian institution’s headquarters.

I’m back guys!”, commented the 29-year-old attacker, after a brief presentation by the manager. “I’m very happy. Thanks for the confidence”, added the player, who scored 47 goals in 72 games played in Serie A, which were key to winning the title in the 2020-21 season.

It’s like déjà vu, isn’t it? You come back here again. So will we score a lot of goals at the San Siro?”, consulted the boss of Inter Milan. Lukaku replied confidently: “Three years ago we were up here and it feels like yesterday. I’m here to score goals. I keep my promises. Thanks for loving me”.

According to the Italian press, Romelu arrives on loan, in exchange for eight million euros, and has already passed the medical exams. Let’s remember that the striker has a contract with Chelsea until June 30, 2026, after being bought from the ‘Nerazzurro’ for 113 million euros.
