Defender Giorgio Chiellini has spent most of his career with Juventus but has decided to change course for the remainder of 2022. After some analysis, the experienced 37-year-old joined Los Angeles FC from the MLS and last Wednesday it was officially presented.

The arrival of the defender had already been confirmed a few weeks ago and his arrival was only expected, after a short vacation. The Italian had a warm welcome to the city that will now host him, he posed with the club’s jersey and went to the Banc of California Stadium to watch his teammates’ duel against FC Dallas.

The match ended with a 3-1 victory for LAFC, with goals from Danny Musovski, Cristian Arango and Kwadwo Opoku. Chiellini was attentively watching the performance of his new team from the stands, he celebrated each one of the scores like any other fan and after the match, he was encouraged to jump onto the field.

The Los Angeles FC squad was celebrating for remaining the leader of the Western Conference, with 36 points (Real Salt Lake is 2nd, with 29 points), and Giorgio was entwined in a brotherly hug with his teammates. The Italian defender made some chants in front of all the fans, while receiving a bath with rehydrating drinks.

Despite being his first appearance in his new institution, the defender won the hearts of the fans and expressed his joy at this new stage. “I’m excited. It is a new chapter of my life. I am completely convinced that this team is perfect for me”, confessed the center-back before the press.

“This club really loved me, I had that feeling from the beginning and I am proud to be here. We are at the top of the table and we want to finish in the same way, but it is a long journey. I don’t want to be the best player on the team, I just want to help. I hope to add my skills, energy and experience”, concluded Giorgio Chiellini.
