The Peruvian delegation continues to raise the country’s name at the XII South American Games 2022 held in Asunción (Paraguay). On this occasion, Alonso Wong won a gold medal in judo in the men’s -73kg category.
The national representative defeated Brazilian Jonas Castro in the final. For his part, Sergio Metty (Venezuela) ranked third, while Arkangel Barbosa (Colombia) ranked fourth.
The Peruvian Sports Institute (IDP) spread the news through its social networks, both Facebook and Twitter. Users took the opportunity to congratulate the athlete for this victory and give the country one more medal.
“Peru is supporting you”, “I am very happy for your achievements, Alonso”, “You’re the best. A winner” either “Peruvians are proud of you”were some of the comments.
After the victory, Wong declared to the social networks of the IPD. “I’m very happy. This medal goes to Peru, my family and especially my parents who have always supported me. The work we have been doing in recent months is gratifying. I am very happy to make history”he pointed.
