Byron Castillo case in the TAS: “They will not give rise to the claim”

Chili Y Peru appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS) for the case Byron Castillolast resort to seek the annulment of Ecuador’s qualification for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, but everything would indicate that the body would reject the request.

Juanjo Buscalia, an Argentine journalist from the Fox Sports network, spoke on the matter and did not communicate encouraging news for the plaintiffs. “What they tell me is that they will not give rise to the claim and will follow the FIFA guidelines”, he assured.

FIFA has already told Chile and Peru, that they are the ones that filed a lawsuit against Byron Castillo because they say that the footballer is wrongly included because they say that he is not Ecuadorian and was born in Colombia. They have already been told that this claim does not take place in the first and second instance”, said Buscalia, recalling FIFA’s resolutions in this regard.

They went to the TAS and what they hope is that there is a favorable verdict, “ however this would not come. The final decision will be made public.”by November 10”, he detailed.

What can happen? This is how the journalist responded: “First, that the resolution favors Chile, that is to say that all the points that Ecuador played with Byron Castillo on the field go to the rivals, if so, it benefits Chile in the first instance and then Peru. But there is a new scenario that the points that remain for Ecuador are not given to anyone and if this happens, Colombia qualifies. What they tell me is that nothing is going to happen, therefore Ecuador is going to be in the opening match against Qatar”, he sentenced.
