Talleres de Córdoba faced Banfield in the semifinal of the Argentine Cup and the clash on the pitch of the Marcelo Bielsa Stadium was very tense. As a result of the pressure, the Colombian Diego Valoyes could not control his emotions and, in a surprising scene, he threw the ball towards the assistant judge’s face.

Diego Valoyes’ action harmed Miguel Savorani, the line judge, who was hit in the face by the ball. The violence of the auction caused the referee to lose his balance, although he managed to stay on his feet and, immediately, he was assisted by the doctors present at the sports venue.

Germán Delfino, main referee of the match, approached the area of what happened and warned the Talleres player with a yellow card. The members of the Banfield squad were not satisfied with the determination and demanded the forward’s expulsion, but there was no way to change the sanction.

Finally, Valoyes remained on the field throughout the 90 minutes (he apologized to the referee) and celebrated reaching the grand final of the Copa Argentina: Michael Santos scored the 1-0 scoreline for Córdoba in the 79th minute.
