A light of hope: Bayern Munich and its statement for the injury of Sadio Mané days before the 2022 World Cup

They do not confirm or deny their presence at the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Sadio Mané withdrew injured from a match in which Bayern Munich faced Werder Breen and ended up worrying everyone, since the World Cup is a few days away. However, the German entity issued an official statement giving little hope of recovery.

“Sadio Mané suffered a head injury to his right fibula in Bayern Munich vs. Werder Bremen. He is out for the game against Schalke. More tests will be carried out in the coming days. FC Bayern will contact the medical side of the Senegalese Football Association.” held the Bavarian team.

The Senegalese footballer was injured in the 21st minute of the match, after feeling pain in his right knee due to a crash that took place a few minutes after the start of the match. Mané ended up throwing himself on the grass to be treated and Julian Nagelsmann made the decision to change him.

Sadio Mané was second in the standings for the last Ballon d’Or, behind Frenchman Karim Benzema. The Senegalese star is a key piece for his selection, he was the last African champion in February and a finalist with Liverpool in the 2021-22 Champions League, before signing for Bayern Munich.

Concern in Senegal

Speaking to AFP, Augustin Senghor, the president of the Federation was concerned about Mané’s physical condition: “Imagine France losing Benzema. We are crossing our fingers, we are worried since the official news of the club reached us yesterday (Tuesday). Rigor dictates that we expect reliable information from the club itself”.

Senegal will debut on November 21 in the 2022 World Cup against the Netherlands, in a duel from group A completed by the hosts Qatar and Ecuador.
