Robert Rojas returned to the playing fields after seven months. The Paraguayan defender recovered from the fracture of the tibia and fibula that he suffered after a foul by Aldair Rodríguez in Alianza Lima vs. River Plate on April 6 for the group stage of the Copa Libertadores.
The player participated in the ‘Millionaire’ victory (4-3) over Colo Colo in a friendly match. The footballer came in at 46 minutes to replace Marcelo Herrera and, in his first action, he starred in a play that alarmed the Argentine team’s bench.
The 26-year-old athlete jumped to dispute a ball with Juan Martín Lucero and heads collided. However, it was only a blow and he continued to play, which reassured the River Plate fans.
After the commitment, Robert Rojas expressed his excitement to return to the playing fields. “The truth is that I am very happy, we are going to say that I made my debut again. I felt comfortable, drowned but well, very happy”, declared for ESPN.
“It was a long time that I was stopped, it was hard. It was the first serious injury of my career, thanks to my family I managed it well. I thank my family, the positive side of the injury was that I was able to share with my wife and my son”he added.
In the same way, the Paraguayan defender referred to the clash with Juan Martín Lucero. “I was scared too. I said: ‘The first ball and I already broke my head’. I thought I broke everything”he mentioned.
