The statements of Bernardo Cuesta after the 1-0 victory of Melgar vs. Lima Alliance in Arequipa

Bernardo Cuesta was one of the protagonists of the match and, after the victory, gave statements about the performance of the squad and the duel in Lima .

“We knew it was going to be a very difficult final. A few days ago we played a semifinal, it was practically enough for us to recover. We felt the last 15 or 20 minutes, I think we made a very big effort in search of the result”, Cuesta said in statements to GOLPERU.

Despite the wear and tear made, the footballer was happy with the result: “I’m happy for the team’s effort, for the advantage we were able to gain and we’re already thinking about what’s to come”.

The key is not closed and Bernardo Cuesta is clear about it: “Yes, of course, one goal is minimal. Now we have to prepare to go to Lima and play our game like we always do. Being protagonists and going in search of the objective”.

The first leg was played in front of more than 40,000 spectators. The second leg will be played on Saturday when Alianza receives Melgar at its stadium in the Lima neighborhood of La Victoria.

Melgar will be champion with a tie or victory. If Alianza ties the accumulated score, the winner will be defined by a penalty shootout as there will be no extra time. Alianza reached the final of the 2022 tournament as Clausura champion, while Melgar did so after eliminating Cristal in a semifinal.
