Qualifiers 2026 would not start in March: know the possible new date

The Qualifiers to World Cup 2026 that will be organized by Canada, the United States and Mexico would have a new start date. The start would no longer take place in March, as in the last editions of the contest, but months later.

In this regard, Antonio García Pye, manager of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) teams, spoke, who estimates that the qualifying process would begin in the middle of the year.

“The start of the Qualifiers has not yet been made official, apparently it will be in June but it is not 100% confirmed, if so we would have more friendlies”, he indicated this Wednesday in dialogue with Rpp’s ‘Football as a field’.

The objective would be for the teams to have better rest and preparation taking into account the unusual date of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, to be held from November 20 to December 18.

Justo Villar, former goalkeeper of the Paraguayan team, also spoke about the start of the Qualifiers.

“I think it will end up being decided by June. There are several teams playing in the World Cup and they will surely change their coach”, he indicated from the Monumental, in the preview of the friendly match of the Peruvian team against Paraguay.

The World Cup that will be jointly organized by Canada, the United States and Mexico will be the first to have 48 participating teams, out of the 32 combined that will animate Qatar 2022. South America will have six and a half berths.
