DT of France revealed if Benzema will be replaced in the selection to play in Qatar 2022

Without Karim Benzema, due to injury, the question arose as to who will replace the striker in the France team. To announce the potential replacement, coach Didier Deschamps has until one day before his debut in the Qatar 2022 World Cup (Tuesday 22 against Australia). But, the DT did not need more time to confirm how he will solve this case.

“Will he be replaced?”they asked the French strategist. “Nope”, he said into the microphone of Téléfoot on TF1. Immediately, the interviewer wanted to know the reason, but the world champion coach in 2018 was blunt: “I have decided, nothing more”. Although, the winner of the trophy in 1998 argued that they have enough potential to face the tournament with 25 players.

“We have seven to eight attacking players. We have a quality group. I have confidence in them for what they do on and off the pitch. We are going to give it our all from the first game”said Deschamps, who lost Presnel Kimpembe and Christopher Nkunku but replaced them with Axel Disasi and Randal Kolo Muani, respectively.

How was Benzema injured?

Karim arrived at the French camp with an injury that prevented him from playing both games for Real Madrid before the World Cup. In fact, the forward trained separately on the eve of the trip to Qatar. Until on Saturday he did work with the rest of his classmates and during that rehearsal he felt discomfort in his other leg.

About the scene, Deschamps recalled: “It happened in the game, everything was under control. It wasn’t even a rush or a shot. In training you can get injured and it’s never the right time. But what had to be done was done. He has a problem in his other leg that prevents him from staying with us. It’s never fun, it doesn’t make you smile.”.

Later, the France coach regretted what happened to the scorer, as he had worked on his recovery to arrive in good shape for Qatar 2022. “Obviously it’s a big hit. Karim had done everything to come back, so did we. He was in session and with an almost innocuous gesture, he felt a muscle pain in his other leg. The exams unfortunately confirmed too large an injury.”hill.

Who are France’s attacking players without Benzema?

As Deschamps mentioned, the Frenchmen have attacking footballers on their squad who can make up for Benzema’s absence. Without the ‘9’, the DT is entrusted to: Kylian Mbappé, Kingsley Coman, Ousmane Dembélé, Antoine Griezmann, Olivier Giroud, Randal Kolo Muani and Marcus Thuram.
