In the middle of the World Cup, Cristiano Ronaldo was left without a team. A few days after the footballer’s controversial statements in an interview with journalist Piers Morgan, Manchester United announced on Tuesday the termination of ‘CR7”s contract, which did not take long to make a statement on the subject.
“Following discussions with Manchester United, we have agreed to terminate our contract early”indicated the 37-year-old athlete in a post on social networks, thus confirming the end point of his story with the Premier League club.
“I love Manchester United and I love the fans, that will never change. However, I feel that it is the right time to look for a new challenge.”added Cristiano Ronaldo, who is in Qatar to play the World Cup with his team.
Lastly, the Portuguese sent good wishes to Manchester United, a team in which he scored 145 goals in 346 games. “I wish the team all the success for the rest of the season and for the future”he expressed.
Cristiano Ronaldo is no longer at United
Manchester United “thanks him for his immense contribution throughout his two spells at Old Trafford and wishes him, as well as his family, a good future,” the club detailed on the progress of the 37-year-old star, who had recently criticized his coach and his leaders in an interview on TalkTV.
The former Real Madrid and Juventus player, who is currently in Qatar playing the World Cup with Portugal, had stated that the Glazer family was more concerned with United’s potential revenue generation than with sporting results.
He even referred to his former teammates Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney, saying that “they are not (his) friends”, after recent criticism from both club legends.
