France-Denmark: Deschamps bets on Kunda and Varane

This was the main curiosity of the last training: which of Benjamin Pavard or Jules Kunde will take the position of the right flank? And it seems that Didier Deschamps has an idea to change the starting lineup. In contrast to the match with Australia (4-1), it was the Barcelona resident who held the corridor in the intended holder team this Friday in the final session before the meeting with Denmark, on Saturday, November 26, at 17:00.

Jules Kunde has already played in this position for both the Blues and Barcelona. He took advantage of a disappointing performance from his Bavarian counterpart to start his first match at this World Cup. Another change is the appearance of Rafael Varane in the starting lineup. The Manchester United centre-back has recovered from a hamstring injury he sustained in a 0-0 win over Chelsea on 22 October. His partner was Dayot Upamecano, who proved to be convincing on Tuesday as a left pivot. Ibrahima Konate will pay to return as the owner of the Blues vice-captain.

At a press conference earlier in the day, goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris was delighted with Varane, who remained on the bench against Australians : “Within the group, he brings his serenity, his calmness, his experience, he is a silent force. He also brings his voice to the dressing room, he is the leader. He has been playing for the French national team for many years. He plays an important role in the team. We will need all our strength and, most importantly, we can feel it, – assured the tricolor doorman. Varan hasn’t played for a month, but in the last days of training he was able to pick up the pace. The staff thinks they are ready to finally launch their contest.

Otherwise, the French team should present itself as a team without surprises. Theo Hernandez starts from the left lane of four, with Kylian Mbappe in front of him. In midfield, Aurelien Chouameny, Adrien Rabiot and Antoine Griezmann will be updated. The Atlético Madrid player will still have the mission to take over the attack, completed by Olivier Giroud on the front line and Ousmane Dembele on the right flank rather than Kingsley Coman.
